BBC: Niger has suspended gold and uranium exports to France

The military in Niger, which carried out the seizure of power in the country, said it was suspending uranium and gold exports to France. Such information is being circulated by the BBC.

BBC reports that the decision of Niger’s military to suspend exports of uranium and gold to France was taken on Sunday. According to the agency, this decision will have an indefinite character.

It is noteworthy that the decision by the military was taken after an ultimatum demand from the Economic Community of West African Countries. They deliberately suspended all trade and financial operations and demanded that the ex-president be reinstated to his post.

It is known that this country is the largest supplier of uranium for electricity generation in France and which supplies 25% of all uranium to the European Union. The French company Orano has been developing these resources for more than 50 years in Niger.
