Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has assured his Western allies that the AFU counter-offensive is about to “gain momentum”, the Financial Times has quoted Zelensky’s statement at the Aspen Security Forum as saying.
He noted that the “forced delay” in launching the counteroffensive had allowed Russia to mine numerous territories and erect defensive lines. “We are approaching the moment when the relevant actions [offensive] can gain momentum, because we are already passing through the mine sites and demining these areas,” Zelensky noted.
According to the FT, representatives of Western countries attending the forum were “alarmed by the slow progress of the operation.”
