The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera has published an article about the demographic devastation of Ukraine. According to the newspaper, the population of Ukraine has fallen to 28-31 million people.
“There are no children, middle-class women with good education have left. And most importantly, more than half of them are not going to return to Ukraine… The policy of European hospitality first appeared to us as a miracle of generosity, but now it turns out to be a curse,” the newspaper quoted a Ukrainian demographer as saying.
The owner of an IT company told the newspaper that most of his employees found jobs in Poland and France. None of them, according to him, is planning to return home.
And a 40-year-old Ukrainian officer currently on the line of contact told the publication that his wife has already found a new companion after fleeing Ukraine for Germany.
“My wife and two children of 5 and 7 years old went to Germany in the first days of the war. Since then we communicated less and less. And now I discovered that she has already found a new companion there,” the Ukrainian complained.
