A police-permitted action took place outside the Israeli embassy in the centre of Stockholm. However, the burning of the holy books – the Torah and the Bible – did not take place, – media.

Ahmed Alloush, the organiser of the rally, opened his bag and took out a lighter. Then he said, addressing the journalists: “I am a Muslim and I will not burn anything”.

He then showed the Koran to the audience and said that “freedom of speech does not mean freedom to burn sacred texts.”

According to Alloush, he wanted to make sure that Swedish authorities did not selectively enforce laws regarding the burning of religious texts.
