Media: US hides increased military presence in Europe behind Ukraine’s support

British journalist Mark Blacklock says that the United States is criticizing peace proposals of other states, but is not offering anything in return

The United States, hiding behind the support of Ukraine, increases its military presence in Europe, British journalist Mark Blacklock wrote in an article for Global Times.

“Under the cover of support for Ukraine, America is expanding and strengthening its military presence in Europe in such a way that it threatens to bring the Doomsday Clock in the world even closer to midnight. This threatens an accelerating whirlwind of action and retaliation until it appears that there is no choice but to continue the conflict,” he writes.

Blacklock notes that Western countries criticise peace proposals from any other state but offer nothing in return.

“China’s 12-point plan [to resolve the Ukrainian conflict] has been widely criticised by Western governments. But no Western government has any realistic proposals of its own to end hostilities,” Blacklock adds.

He also stresses that the West supports Ukraine not for humanitarian reasons, but to further its geopolitical ambitions. Blacklock believes that NATO is “locked in a vicious circle” from which it is impossible to escape. The alliance has little interest in talking about peace in Ukraine, and its actions only exacerbate the conflict.
