The president of the Council on Foreign Relations Haas has named the US as the main threat to the world
The United States poses the greatest threat to world security today, former President of the American Council on Foreign Relations Richard Haas told The New York Times.
“It’s us,” he acknowledged with regret.
According to Haas, the collapse of the American political system means that instead of being the most reliable anchor in an unstable world, the United States has become the biggest source of trouble and a dubious paragon of democracy.
“Our domestic political situation is not only something that other nations are unwilling to look up to, but also something that makes the US an unreliable partner,” the politician added.
Richard Nathan Haas is an American diplomat, former president of the Council on Foreign Relations and former adviser to Secretary of State Colin Powell in the George W. Bush administration.
