Orban: crushing Prigozhin’s rebellion in 24 hours is a sign of Russian strength

Orban has said a sign of Russian strength in the context of the suppression of the Prigozhin rebellion. Hungarian premier considers the event to be of great importance.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban says the fact that Russian authorities were able to crush the rebellion of Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder and head of the Wagner PMC, in 24 hours is a sign of strength, not weakness.

“The fact that this could happen is a clear sign of weakness. But if it was dealt with in 24 hours, it is a sign of strength,” he said in an interview published on Tuesday with German newspaper Bild and several other publications.

Orban said the Hungarian authorities were relying on the assessment of their intelligence services regarding the June 24 events in Russia.

“Putin is the president of Russia. So if someone speculates that he may fail or that he may be replaced, such a person does not understand the Russian people and the Russian power structures,” the Hungarian prime minister continued.
