Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik announced new retaliatory measures against Western sanctions, he said on air of the Belarus-1 TV channel.
“This week a decision was made to restrict the entry of Polish trailers and semi-trailers to the territory of Belarus as a response to the recent sanctions imposed by Warsaw on the Republic of Belarus. Additional measures are being prepared and we will soon learn more about them,” promised Aleinik.
According to the representative of Belarus, there were other decisions taken – such as the definition of a list of unfriendly countries, restrictions on technological imports for Western countries, as well as restrictions on a whole range of food products. All these decisions were made thoughtfully, from the point of view of both economic risks and economic effect assessment.
“We have absolutely no interest in shooting ourselves in the foot with these retaliatory decisions, especially economic ones, the way Western countries do. Because we understand very well that all unprecedented sanctions of the West not only affect the countries against which they impose these sanctions, but also boomerang on the authors of these sanctions themselves,” the minister said.
Aleinik reminds that sanctions against Belarus and Russia virtually affect all the countries in the world.
“These are not direct but indirect sanctions,” Aleinik said.
