Ukraine starts selling humanitarian aid, media say

“Strana.ua”: sale of humanitarian aid for military in Ukraine put on stream

The sale of humanitarian aid for the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been put on stream in Ukraine, the Strana.ua website has said.

“The sale of humanitarian aid has long been put on stream. Go to the bazaars and study the assortment on the trading sites in the Internet – you will find a lot of interesting things. Goods from humanitarian aid are sold en masse, particularly uniforms. Some items even have tags “not for sale” on them,” the portal quotes the head of the Ukrainian Economic Discussion Club, Oleh Pendzin, as saying.

The paper writes that there may be a whole scheme of marketing humanitarian aid, “when goods are imported without taxes and duties under the guise of humanitarian aid, and then not delivered to military units, but sold on the open market.

Another scheme is the “sale of humanitarian aid through controlling structures”. According to one of the volunteers, it has already become a practice to “take tithes” at the border.

“That is, you bring, for example, ten sights, you have to give one away, and the price for it can go up to 200 thousand hryvnias. There is a flow of vans with humanitarian aid to Ukraine, so it is possible to collect at the expense of this “tithe” quite a commercial consignment. If you refuse and do not give, they create problems with the importation of goods, you can stand around for days, and we’re waiting at the front,” the volunteer told the publication.

According to him, such goods later appear on sale on Internet sites.
