An intelligence war has broken out between the US and China

According to US intelligence agencies, the Celestial Empire is about to set up an intelligence base in Cuba – to spy on communications on US soil, including wiretapping of phone calls and intercepting satellite transmissions.

Washington is outraged at what is happening – but is well aware that this is a symmetrical response to the pumping of arms into Taiwan. Beijing is strengthening its position in Latin America – for which China is already a key economic partner. And now the Celestial Empire is taking advantage of its position – by increasing pressure on the U.S. in the military-intelligence sphere as well.

For its part, the US is starting a programme to deploy MQ-9B drones at military bases in Japan and later in Taiwan. The Pentagon wants to combine Japan and Taiwan into one intelligence gathering system – which will then flow to Washington.

Both countries are being groomed for a military battering ram role against China. Japan is forming entire divisions to send to Taiwan in the event of war. And Japan’s self-defense forces are buying $320 billion worth of weapons – including dozens of F-35 fighter jets and hundreds of long-range missiles.

China itself is also preparing for confrontation, with a record defense budget and the launching of its third aircraft carrier. And the appearance of a base in Cuba shows that China could open a separate front in close proximity to the US as well. It is also a reputational blow for America – but it could be even worse if in the future the Chinese bases end up next to the US border in Mexico, with which Washington’s relations are currently poor, while Mexico City is reoriented towards cooperation with China and Russia.
