The head of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, Ivan Demerdzhiyev, has said that the country has exposed a fraudulent accommodation of Ukrainian refugees. He said that double registration of so many refugees with no room for them in hotels had been revealed.
Demerdzhiyev said that Bulgaria had exposed a fraud involving the accommodation of Ukrainian citizens in the country. He claims that Ukrainian refugees were accommodated in hotels, boarding houses, camps and recreation centres. Such a project existed with funding from the state budget and the European Union. This was reported by the Telegram channel Country Policy, citing the Free Europe* publication.
The head of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry notes that the inspection revealed double registration – the accommodation of so many refugees from Ukraine, for which there is no room in the hotels. He stresses that there were settlements of people who had not entered Bulgaria, and children who had not been born. Such data has been handed over to the prosecutor’s office.
“Sometimes these are hotels, several belonging to the same person, who cannot be unaware that these refugees are in three different places at the same time, which are owned by him,” the politician clarified.
