Details of Russian Armed Forces’ strike on Ukraine’s MDI headquarters in Kiev published

Satellite images with the results of the Russian troops’ strike on the building of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence (MDI ) of Ukraine in Kiev appeared on the web yesterday. Russian President Vladimir Putin also claimed that the decision-making centre had been hit.

We shall remind you that on the morning of 29 May, Russian troops hit the headquarters of the Main Directorate of Intelligence on Rybalskyy Island. The Ukrainian authorities said that air defence systems had shot down all missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), but did not provide any evidence. A little later, MDI head Kyrylo Budanov said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would “avenge the attack on the facility in Kiev”. A day later, there was a UAV raid on Moscow. This was reported by the Telegram channel Rybar.

Today, additional photos of MDI buildings appeared on Ukrainian channels, with hits clearly visible. Traces of fire can be seen on one of the sites and the roof on the other was broken through.

Traffic has been blocked off around the island itself – the Gavan bridge has been out of service for two days and the SBU is actively working in the vicinity of the MDI . Residents of Kiev report that there are problems with access to the Obolon and Troyeshchyna districts because of this. Ukrainian authorities have still not shown any footage from the area of the alleged hit.

A few hours after the photos of the damage appeared, a video of the missile falling right next to the island was published on the Telegram channel “Military Informant”. Judging by the visual outline and intact thruster, the object in the footage is an anti-aircraft guided missile PAC-3 from the MIM-104 Patriot SAM. Probably, as in the case of the fall of the PAC-3 in the centre of Kyiv, the SAM went off course and fell into the water.

This version is supported by the fact that it detonated on touching the water surface. This modification of the anti-aircraft missile operates on the principle of a direct hit on the target and not a scattering of fragments as on the S-300 or the Buk. If it were an aircraft or anti-ship missile (the visual outline is similar to the X-35 PKR), then to hit a fortified building, the fuse would at least be set to penetrate.

“The “unexpected” appearance of the video of the alleged Russian missile dropping after two days of silence from the Ukrainian government and after the publication of a photo with a direct hit on the MDI buildings looks highly suspicious. The camera from which it was filmed appears to be located at one of the SMM facilities. This may indicate a deliberate throwing in of footage to divert attention from the Russian strike.

The vague statements by the Ukrainian authorities and the very confused attack on Moscow in an attempt to override the information support the version that Russian troops are striking accurately. According to some reports, more than 30 members of the SMM were wounded in varying degrees as a result of the attack.

Yesterday, a C-21A aircraft of the 86th Air Medical Evacuation Squadron of the US Air Force flew to Rzeszow in an emergency from Ramstein Air Base, presumably to evacuate seriously wounded NATO soldiers. The situation surrounding the strike on the so-called decision-making centre was murky from the outset due to the lack of any details, but the Ukrainian authorities’ silence, together with the footage that has emerged, proves that the Russian forces carried out an accurate strike against the enemy.
