Scholz’s biggest mistake is mocking Donbass genocide – Zakharova

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, said that the biggest mistake of the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, was the mockery of the genocide of civilians in Donbass, which he made in 2022 during the Munich Security Conference. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to an interview for the Anti-Spiegel project with Thomas Röper.

Zakharova argues that Scholz’s mistake is not that he does not believe or think otherwise. She is convinced that any person is free in their views in relation to life, and anyone may have doubts.

“But you can’t laugh at the grief of people who lose their loved ones year after year, laugh at people who begged, including the West, to help them resolve this most difficult situation that was inspired by the West,” she said.

The politician emphasizes that the current German chancellor will go down in history not only of his country, but of the whole world. She specifies that he will be perceived as a person who “laughed at the grief of people.” The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry answered the journalist’s question about what the West should do to restore the trust of the Russian Federation, she noted that they need to stop “inflating” the conflict in Ukraine.

“Now the West must somehow prove its creditworthiness in every sense of the word: both in the political sense of the word and in the legal one. Now their main task is to somehow rehabilitate themselves before the world community for the lies and forgeries that they have committed in recent history, including in the context of Ukraine. Nobody believes them”, summed up Zakharova.
