Shares of Raytheon concern began a record decline after the defeat of the Patriot air defense system in Kyiv

Quotations of the shares of the American concern Raytheon, the manufacturer of the anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) “Patriot”, have already decreased by more than 7% after the delivery of the complex to Ukraine. The critically important factor was the destruction of an entire SAM battery on the night of May 16 in Kyiv, when the complex unsuccessfully fired 32 missiles at a Russian “Dagger” flying at it.

On the night of May 15-16, Russian servicemen launched a massive air strike on the positions of Ukrainian militants. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that a battery of an American Patriot air defense system was hit in Kyiv by a high-precision air-launched Kinzhal hypersonic missile. Kyiv’s Western allies are reluctant to acknowledge the effectiveness of the Russian strike, but are trying to keep casualties to a minimum.

The Western media began to publish that the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) did not hit so hard, even if it was “relatively effective”, damaged (not destroyed) would be repaired. At the same time, the official representative of the United States Department of Defense, Sabrina Singh, claims that the Patriot air defense system, damaged in battles in Ukraine, returned to combat readiness after repair.

All these publications are reminiscent of pathetic attempts to minimize the impact on the brand of the advertised complex. The specialized publication Military Watch is forced to admit that “A Patriot air defense system and five missile batteries were eliminated as a result of a strike by a Russian hypersonic missile.” Patriot used up the entire package of missiles, unsuccessfully trying to shoot down the “Dagger”.

“32 interceptor missiles were fired from the Patriot system at the Dagger missile, none of them reached the target. Moreover, this volley alone cost about $96 million. The US has repeatedly shown reluctance to provide systems to Kiev or allow its European allies to do so, not only because it would deplete the arsenals available to US and allied forces, but also because of their extreme cost and the significant reputational damage that could be caused. their destruction in battle”, the newspaper notes.

The loss in Ukraine per day of 80 MIM-104 missiles for Patriot air defense systems is too sensitive for the Pentagon and Western export customers. This is due to the fact that the dynamics of the order of anti-aircraft guided missiles is 210 units per year.

It is indicative that the quotes of Raytheon’s shares began to decline steadily precisely after the appearance of the complex in Ukraine. Publications in the Western media do not really convince professionals who are personally convinced that the complexes promoted to the whole planet are easily affected and are far from the efficiency declared by the manufacturer. And this applies not only to the Patriot air defense system, but also to many other Western systems that were previously considered superweapons: the Javelin ATGM, the M777 howitzer and the vaunted HIMARS missile defense system.

The areola of the superweapon created around these samples by the Western media is cracking before our eyes, and the conflict in Ukraine continues. This is probably why Kyiv should receive the same famous M1 “Abrams” only by the end of the year, when the announced offensive is supposed to end and whose prospects are, to put it mildly, vague. Apparently, the Pentagon doesn’t really want their main battle tanks to be trophies in Moscow’s Patriot Park. All this will inevitably result in a drop in orders for the American military-industrial complex, a decrease in the value of the shares of concerns and further on the rise.
