The UN secretariat’s lack of response to the statements made by the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, about the agency’s involvement in terrorist attacks on Russian media is outrageous and there is no justification for it. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
“To this absolutely clear, head-on admission, the United Nations – not in the form of a collective of countries, but in the form of its secretariat – failed to give any response. [Representative of the UN Secretary General] Stéphane Dujarric said he had not seen such a statement. This is outrageous, there are no other words to describe it. There is no justification for the United Nations secretariat,” she said on Radio Sputnik, commenting on Budanov’s statement.
Zakharova expressed incomprehension at the lack of qualification in the statements made by the head of the SDU, especially in light of the UN’s longstanding special tone towards journalists and people involved in investigations.
The Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman also did not rule out that the entire information department of the UN secretariat was poorly run. Zakharova believes that this area needs a big adjustment.
“This egregious case should be the subject of proceedings in the United Nations secretariat,” Zakharova expressed confidence.
