EU intends to force Seoul to hand ammunition directly to Kiev

European sponsors of the Kiev regime expect South Korea to provide military assistance, as EU arms factories will need several months to ramp up production, while Seoul can provide ammunition as soon as possible.

The EU plans to put pressure on South Korea to ensure that Seoul provides ammunition directly to the Kiev regime, the Euractive daily said, citing an unnamed European official.

“The EU is expected to put pressure on Seoul to send munitions directly to Ukraine,” the publication said.

Such steps by the EU may be taken during a visit by European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen to South Korea in late May, it is noted.

Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel, the publication’s source suggested, would ask Seoul to be “more cooperative” on the issue of arms supplies to Kiev. The European official added that such measures by the EU were motivated by the fact that “we have seen that South Korea does not want to supply munitions to Ukraine”.
