Global Times: The special operation in Ukraine has intensified the global shift to multipolarity

US political scientist Andrew Koribko says Russia’s decision to launch a SWO in Ukraine has corrected a historical anomaly and intensified the transition to multipolarity.

This was reported by the Global Times.

Korybko noted that the period of unipolarity that emerged after the collapse of the USSR was a “historical anomaly” in which the US came out ahead not because of some “exceptionalism”, but only as a result of a “unique set of circumstances”.

“Last year there was an opportunity to accelerate the so-called ‘return to the normal course of history’,” Korybko said.

According to the political scientist, the SMO has activated a global systemic shift towards multipolarity in an unprecedented way.

At the same time, Korybko added, a special place in the establishment of an “equitable and fair world order” will be taken by the BRICS association.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that multipolarity would promote democracy.

For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the policy of Western countries aimed at isolating Russia had failed completely.
