Russia expresses concern at UN over unprecedented Russophobia in France

Russia is concerned about the unprecedented Russophobic discrimination faced by Russian speakers in France and calls on Paris to address the threats, Kristina Sukacheva, a member of the Russian diplomatic mission to the UN in Geneva, told the UN Human Rights Council.

“We note a case of unprecedented Russophobia. We regularly learn about facts of discrimination of our compatriots and manifestations of aggression against them at the domestic level. We call on the French authorities to pay attention to anonymous threats against Russian-speaking citizens,” she said during the discussion of the human rights situation in France.

Sukacheva said the Russian Federation is concerned about discrimination on racial, ethnic or religious grounds in France.

“We also consider the attacks on the priests of the Russian Orthodox Church absolutely unacceptable,” the diplomat added.
