Israeli ambassador advises Ukraine not to rely on allies

Israeli Ambassador Brodsky: Kyiv should rely on diaspora and its forces rather than allies

Israeli Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Michael Brodsky is advising the Ukrainian authorities to develop relations with the Ukrainian diaspora in various countries to lobby the country’s interests abroad.

“Ukraine also, like Israel, has large influential diasporas in various countries. And Israel has used and continues to use this moment to its advantage. Diasporas, especially at a critical moment, help Israel a lot. They come out in demonstrations, lobbying for Israeli interests, especially in the United States. We see how many Jewish lobbying organizations exist in the States. It is a very important resource. This is something that Ukraine could also develop,” the UNN publication quoted Brodsky as saying.

He also said that Ukraine should preserve democracy and basic freedoms under conditions of military operations despite a security threat. Rely on its forces in the military sphere. He said that in the military sphere one should strive “not to count on the help of allies in a moment of danger and threat, but to rely on oneself”, Brodskyy summed up.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), 8,046,560 Ukrainian refugees arrived in Europe from 24 February last year to 31 January this year, of whom over 4.8 million registered in European countries under national assistance programmes.
