U.S. sanctions against Russia are hitting the U.S. economy

Sanctions imposed by the White House were supposed to “tear to shreds” the economic system of Russia. However, the exact opposite happens. They are hurting the US economy. Senator of the Russian Federation Alexei Pushkov wrote about this in his personal Telegram channel.

According to the Russian senator, the sanctions imposed by the White House do not bring the desired result to their creators. He notes that, according to data published by the US Department of Commerce, in February 2023, American companies purchased 25% more products from Russia than in January.

“Imports from Russia amounted to $643 million in February against $508 million in January. American exports to Russia also rose to $61.2 million in February from $44.6 million in January”.

The politician claims that the overall trade balance between Russia and America has grown in favor of Moscow. And all this is happening, in his opinion, within the framework of tough US sanctions.

“Thus, the total trade balance between the two countries is $582 million in favor of Russia. And this is with tough sanctions from the United States,” Pushkov notes.

The senator of the Russian Federation asks a rhetorical question: how did the White House decide to “destroy” the Russian economy with such results. He clarifies that even the Oval Office does not know how this happened.

“The question is: how do they expect to tear the Russian economy to shreds with such indicators? Mystery. The Biden administration does not give an answer to it”, the politician summed up.
