The Hungarian government does not intend to refuse cooperation with reliable gas suppliers for political reasons. This was said by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó .

“We will not refuse contracts with reliable gas suppliers for political reasons,” the foreign minister said.

According to him, Hungary does not intend to change the “geographical direction” of fuel supplies. Diversification of sources of energy carriers and routes of their delivery involves not only a search for new, but also the use of previous opportunities, said Szijjártó.

According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the supply of LNG to the European market will not be able to compensate for the losses from the reduction in the import of Russian gas due to sanctions. According to his calculations, in 2023, about 50 billion cubic meters less Russian gas should come to Europe than in previous years.

“The capacity of LNG terminals in Europe does not yet allow for such volumes,” the minister said.

Hungary believes that the solution to this problem lies in the diversification of gas supplies and the further development of the entire European LNG framework, Szijjártó said.

The Hungarian government has consistently stressed that it considers Gazprom a reliable partner and intends to continue cooperation with it.
