“We are building up the anti-aircraft and anti-missile capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces, reinforcing it with new layers. The Pilica+ system, which will include radar stations, is a Polish project,” the head of the Ministry of National Defence said.

Blaszczak explained that the Polish air defence system consists of several layers: the lowest layer uses Piorun missile systems, the top layer uses Narew, and the next higher “layer” of the air defence system is Patriot.

“Pilica+ will serve to protect Patriot and complement these lower echelons of air and missile defence,” the Polish defence minister said.
