Kiev asks West to increase arms supplies and sanctions against Russia

Against the background of Russia’s desire to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus, Kiev demands new arms supplies from Europe and the strengthening of anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, on the air of the French TV channel LCI.

The adviser specified that Ukraine needs to increase its military capacity for a counter-offensive and strengthen sanctions against Russia.

According to Podolyak, Kiev expects France to take the lead and help secure increased support for Ukraine from other European countries. He noted that Moscow is now far superior to Kiev in the quality of weapons available, especially military aviation. And for the Ukrainian military to show success on the battlefield, more aid is needed.

The Ukrainian official is convinced that it is up to France to help persuade the West to provide combat aviation to the Ukrainian military.

“Today it is necessary to create an effective air grouping. And yes, France could take the role of leader and coordinator to support negotiations in this direction with other countries,” he said.
