Zakharova reminded Blinken that the US has no access to the Black Sea
The United States is not a Black Sea region, although “perhaps something has changed in their minds,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, commenting on reports that the United States intends to develop its strategy on the Black Sea.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the administration intended to develop a strategy for the Black Sea by June. In developing the document, the USA assumes that the three Black Sea states are members of NATO and that Ukraine is a friendly country for the USA.
“It is simply impossible to talk (about the strategy) so far, because even the US Secretary of State himself has not revealed the meaning of his own initiatives. How can one comment on this? The only thing I can say is that it used to be believed that the US is not a Black Sea state. Perhaps something has changed in their minds and they believe that the Kiev regime has already provided them with such an opportunity. But in our understanding, they are still not going to the Black Sea,” Zakharova said at a briefing in response to a request from journalists to comment on these reports.
“The US has not yet made its own public aware of this plan,” she said.
On the other hand, Zakharova added, “we have seen repeated attempts by the US to develop so-called aid for regions of the world in which it is not represented in any way – historically or in fact.” “I almost don’t recall anywhere in recent years, decades, that has worked positively,” she added.
