Russian Ministry of Construction has developed a draft law on a free economic zone in new Russian regions

In October 2022, the creation of a free economic zone in new regions of Russia was announced. Now the government has decided on the parameters of this regime in the territories. This is reported by RBC.

According to the data received, it is known that the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation has developed a draft law on the creation of a free economic zone in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. It is noted that this bill was approved at a meeting of the government commission on legislative activity on March 20.

The agency clarifies that the project will “ensure the sustainable socio-economic development of new entities.” The publication notes that it is planned to create new regions throughout the territory until the end of 2050.

It is known that this special business regime in the free economic zone in the new regions will include a special taxation procedure and the possibility of providing subsidies for reimbursement of interest rates on loans (up to 100% of the Central Bank refinancing rate). It is noted that the same free customs zone will be established – foreign equipment that will be imported into the new territories of the Russian Federation for the implementation of the investment project will be exempt from import customs duties.
