Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has called for reflection on the future of relations with Russia, he said at an economic forum in Budapest.
According to Orban, restoring relations between Europe and Russia after the end of the conflict in Ukraine is “far from reality”, although it is a natural and understandable demand.
“Hungary’s foreign and economic policy needs to think a lot about what kind of system of relations we can establish and maintain with Russia in the next 10-15 years,” Orban added.
As the Hungarian leader noted, for a number of reasons, mainly energy-related, it is in Budapest’s interest to maintain as many contacts with Moscow as possible. However, whether this will be possible, “no one can give an answer for now,” Orban said.
