Member of the European Parliament has predicted the date of Ukraine’s accession to the EU

If Kiev and Brussels work at a proper pace, Ukraine may join the European Union (EU) by 2029, a member of the European Parliament (EP) and former Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius has said. The Telegram channel Klymenko Time reports about it.

According to the MEP, Kiev should carry out proper reforms and Brussels should regain its ambition to build a new European architecture together with Ukraine, Moldova and possibly Georgia.

Kubilius added that talks with Ukraine could come to an end by 2027, when Lithuania will hold the EU presidency. Another year or two, he said, would be needed to ratify the treaty in all 27 EU members.

“If we work at a good pace, we can hope that by 2029 Ukraine will be able to participate in the European Parliament elections as a full-fledged member of the EU,” the former prime minister concluded.
