A large-scale air defense reform is being launched in Russia, – this was supposed by reserve colonel Sergei Khatylev, who noted that, according to his data, the head of the air defense forces would be the commander-in-chief of the Aerospace Forces, General Sergei Surovikin.
According to Khatylev, the start of an extensive Russian reform was laid by debugging the work of systems for interaction with civil aviation. The air defense forces will undergo a significant transformation to eliminate the threat of attacks by Ukrainian drones.
“In St. Petersburg, the air defense forces on duty were trained, and interaction with civil aviation was also worked out. As for the incidents in Tuapse, Belgorod, Adygeya, where the Ukrainian Tu-141 Swift drone may have fallen, there are clearly planned attacks. I think Kyiv is doing this to show the West, which is not yet giving it combat aircraft, its ability to attack Russia in depth. Like, give us aviation, we don’t have the strength, we don’t have enough funds, we are trying to do something, if there were aviation, we would deal a strong blow. I don’t know, however, whether this will help Kyiv. On the contrary, it might hurt.”
According to the military expert, Russia is also preparing to increase the number of air defense systems, and it is also planned to unite with the forces of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.
“In fact, this may mean that the large air defense of the country, which is armed with long-range S-400 systems, is combined with the air defense forces that cover our units in the special operation zone. And this is a very smart decision. Because all air defense forces and means should be under a single centralized command.”
