Blinken: US warns China against assisting Russia

US President Joe Biden’s administration has information that China is considering “aiding Russia,” Washington is warning Beijing and urging it not to do so, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said.

So far, he said, China has not helped Russia evade sanctions or supplied it with weapons.

“Over the last couple of months we have received information that strongly suggests that China is now considering doing so,” Blinken was quoted by TASS as saying.

The secretary of state discussed the issue in a meeting with Wang Yi, head of the office of the CPC Central Committee’s Foreign Affairs Commission, he said.

According to Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, the US will unveil a new package of sanctions against Russia on Friday, February 24, which includes Chinese companies.
