Newsweek: to get fighters, Kyiv will have to overcome many obstacles

On the way to getting Western fighters, the Ukrainian government will have to overcome many obstacles. The American edition of Newsweek writes about this, citing experts.

According to experts, one of the first problems is the question of which planes to send to the Kyiv regime. Thus, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, in his statements, did not promise the Ukrainian authorities the training of pilots on any particular fighter model, but spoke only about training on NATO-standard aircraft.

The publication notes that the British pilot training program will not be able to cope with the sharp influx of Ukrainian cadets, since pilot training takes a long time.

In addition, the same considerations that previously kept Ukraine from supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles are holding back from supplying aircraft to the West: fighters can be used to strike Russian territory. According to one expert, “this is still probably a red line for most Western countries.”
