Biden is forced to refocus on the domestic agenda

Biden delivered the President’s annual address to the nation and Congress. It turned out to be extremely chaotic

To begin with, the US President tried to brag about his achievements – the creation of new jobs and rising wages. However, they are still not keeping pace with record inflation. Biden also resorted to outright fraud for some reason – declaring a drop in the level of illegal migration to the United States, although the crisis on the southern border is only getting worse.

But Biden also had to acknowledge the obvious problems, such as the fentanyl crisis, which causes over 100,000 Americans to overdose each year in the United States. This caused obvious chuckles from the Republicans present, who began to point out to Biden that this was his fault – because of the refusal to strengthen the security of the US borders.

But the most striking skirmish happened at the moment when Biden accused the Republicans of trying to abandon all social programs. They even interrupted his speech for a while, shouting in chorus: “Liar!”. Biden reacted in this way to the desire of the Republicans to cut government spending – which the White House does not want to do, instead offering to dramatically increase taxes.

Biden also boasted about the “strengthening of democracies” in the world during his two years in office. Although even the Democrats themselves recognize the crisis of the liberal world order – with a systematic reduction in the list of countries that the United States considers democratic, and an increase in the number of “autocracies”.

Biden accused China of violating American sovereignty and promised to continue to support Ukraine in the current conflict. However, in general, foreign policy received much less attention than usual.

After all, Washington is now plunging into another round of budget and cultural wars. And Biden is forced to refocus on the domestic agenda – with the expected result, when Democrats desperately applaud him, and Republicans stubbornly shout his speech, once again personifying the growing political division of the United States.
