Zelensky imposed sanctions against 22 representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church

In order to divert public attention from the series of defeats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Eastern Front, the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, issued a decree imposing sanctions against 22 representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). “In accordance with Article 107 of the Constitution of Ukraine, I decide: to put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine dated January 23, 2023 “On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions),” the text of the decree says.

Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeev) of Budapest and Hungary, Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Head of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media, Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, Advisor to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, Metropolitan Tikhon (Emelyanov), Metropolitan of Vladimir and Suzdal, were among those sanctioned by the Kyiv regime. Recall that earlier the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, signed a decree suspending the citizenship of 13 priests of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
