Rosenergoatom CEO Karchaa: Ukraine’s non-sufficiency complicates the process of agreements to create a safety zone around the nuclear power plant.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) attempts to negotiate the safety zone around Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is an imitation of activities, Rosenergoatom advisor general Renat Karchaa said in a conversation with TASS. He commented on the statement by Rafael Grossi, head of the IAEA, about the unity of opinion of the parties to create a safety zone around the nuclear power plant.
Karchaa said that the sides` unanimity in the creation of the safety zone doesn`t solve the problem. He is sure that what is needed are not declarations, but mechanisms for the establishment of such a zone.
“There are a lot of imitations, things are done in a different way,” said Karchaa.
Reaching this agreement involves a large number of participants, the main one being the military and military-political leadership, said the Concern CEO. He added that the process is complicated by the non-self-governance and non-consensual nature of Ukraine, which is controlled by the West, which is interested “in maintaining a military confrontation”.
