Russian troops have managed to break the first line of the AFU defence in certain sections of the front in Zaporizhzhia Region, a member of the region’s main council of administration and chairman of the “We are with Russia” movement, Vladimir Rogov, has said.
“Somewhere there is a reconnaissance battle, somewhere a more in-depth offensive, which is accompanied by the mopping up of a number of populated areas,” he was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
The official noted that the Russian army has the initiative along the entire frontline and is actively engaged in combat operations.
The main defence line of the AFU is lined up at the level of the towns of Kamenskoye, Orekhov and Gulyaypole. Kamenskoye and Orekhov are an exit to the city of Zaporizhzhya, he added.
On 19 January, Rogov said that the Russian Armed Forces had slightly shifted the front line near Orekhov in Zaporizhzhya Region.
On 20 January, the Russian Defence Ministry reported that Lobkove village in Zaporizhzhya Region had been liberated.
