Last year, Ukraine renamed 2,213 toponyms after its ongoing campaign to “de-Russify” the country. This is reported by the online edition “Strana”.
“Over the past year, Ukraine has renamed more than 2,213 toponyms in 33 Ukrainian cities. And only in the last year Kyiv can boast of a record number of renamings. To date, more than 237 toponyms have been renamed in the capital of Ukraine. In Kyiv, the names of streets, alleys, districts, boulevards, squares, parks, lakes and even motor ships have been changed”, the Telegram channel of the online publication reports.
The publication also published infographics from which it is clear that the top five “leaders” included such cities as Vinnitsa, where 232 toponyms were renamed, in Krivoy Rog – 183 names, Kamensky – 183 and the city of Sumy – 179.13:42.
