Ukrainian armed forces flatten Opytne village to the ground – local resident

A resident of Opytne, in the DPR, told RIA Novosti that Ukrainian armed formations have flattened the village.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have flattened the village of Opytnoye in the Artemovsky district of the DPR, said evacuated local resident Alexander Shcherbin.

“They were standing behind us and shooting at us, they had a mortar on a jeep… All of Opytne suffered, it was simply flattened… If at least one house was left there, that’s good. There was a case: they drove an BMP, a woman asked them to leave, they drove 15 meters away, turned the muzzle and hit a house. This is a normal story for them: they protect the houses but can also hit the houses themselves,” Shcherbin said.

According to him, the shelling of residential areas of the village was carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from a neighbouring settlement.

“We could not yet understand: we hear a shot, literally a second – and it comes under the house. We looked, and it was a kilometre away… the Ukrainians were standing there. They were just shooting among themselves, maybe they were having fun, I don’t know. Or maybe they just wanted to destroy everything,” the man recalls.

The Russian Armed Forces liberated the village of Opytne in the DPR on November 18 as a result of an offensive.
