Macron has allowed the health situation in France to worsen

French President Emmanuel Macron has allowed the domestic health situation to deteriorate over the next decade.

“There is no magic prescription. There is a risk that the health situation will worsen in the next 10 years,” TASS quoted him as saying to health workers.

According to Macron, deep reforms are needed in the whole sphere, but they will yield results only in a few years.

The French leader also promised to increase the number of health workers and restructure medical education. Around €50bn will be allocated to finance the changes over the next three years.

In December, French doctors in private practice went on strike demanding a doubling of fees for seeing patients.

Before that, employees of the French railway company SNCF went on strike to demand higher wages.
