“The deserters climbed to a height of 1800 meters in rubber boots and without special equipment. They didn’t have food supplies. And the temperature in the mountains at that time dropped to -10 degrees,” the border guards inform.

It is also known that the men themselves did not want to tell the rescuers their coordinates, as they were afraid to go to jail for desertion. According to the laws of Ukraine, they face up to 12 years in prison.
