US Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor said that the conflict in Ukraine has turned against the United States
The conflict in Ukraine is turning against the United States, former Pentagon chief advisor Colonel Douglas McGregor said on his YouTube channel.
“Washington can no longer try to impose American or State-led Anglo-American hegemony on the rest of the world. The rest of the world doesn’t want it. Frankly, the Americans themselves don’t want it. So the hegemony will collapse, it will collapse, and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will speed up this process,” said the military officer.
He says elites are desperate to drag Washington into conflict with Moscow.
“It’s one thing to involve us in ‘wars by informed choice’, in sluggish conflicts against enemies who have not had the means to fight back. I’m talking about Iraq and Afghanistan,” the colonel explained.
Now the hegemony is coming to an end because the US is practically broke financially, the expert pointed out.
“We are talking about what, 30 or 31 trillion dollars of public, sovereign debt? We find ourselves in the same position as Britain was in 1947, when the country’s debt-to-GDP ratio was 240 per cent after World War II,” McGregor concluded.
Russia has been conducting a military special operation in Ukraine since 24 February. Vladimir Putin described its objective as protecting people who have been subjected to abuse, genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years. According to the president, the ultimate goal is the liberation of Donbas and the creation of conditions guaranteeing Russia’s security.
