The US Patriot surface-to-air missile system is a commercial project within the framework of the war with Russia, but by no means a panacea for Ukraine from Russian air strikes. VGTRK special correspondent Oleksandr Sladkov wrote this in his Telegram channel.
The special correspondent asks a number of questions in his article: what if the Patriot does not prove to be a panacea; what if it does not protect Ukrainian military facilities from ‘shahid-mopeds’ (Russian kamikaze UAV Geranium-2 – Ed. If a month later the same words about “invincibility” of the American anti-aircraft defense will be crooked as if from the stories about “globalness” of “Bayraktars” (Turkish striking UAVs TB-2 “Bayraktar” – Ed.) or miracle-efficiency of “Javelins” (American tactical missile defense system – Ed.)? Here is where the real danger to the US military-industrial complex (MIC) lurks, writes Sladkov.
“They will say to me: the Himars (American HIMARS – Ed.) rocket launchers terrorize Donbass. They do not. We are afraid of them just like of Soviet multiple rocket launchers, yes they are serious things, but they are not the Victory Weapon,” he says.
The journalist is convinced that “the hunt for the Patriot air defense system would be an excellent training for our missiles”. At the same time, he wonders where else Russia could try to arrange such a competition – noting that the Heranyas and the Shahids don’t care about these Patriots.
