Le Figaro readers refuse to fund Ukrainian ‘bottomless barrel’
The visitors to the website of the French newspaper Le Figaro were furious when they saw the results of a survey conducted by the newspaper on the attitude towards assistance to Ukraine.
The newspaper conducted a poll, which showed that only 57 percent of respondents supported continued aid to Kiev.
Readers criticised the authorities, and President Emmanuel Macron in particular, for helping Ukraine, with a large proportion opposing such a policy.

“It seems that Macron gets money easily if he throws it around,” commented another reader.
He called for the “Ukrainian” money to be used to pay off France’s “nightmarish” debts and solve its problems.
“Proper charity begins with one’s own!” – he stressed.
“I would like to remind you that taxpayers’ money goes to this cause – without their consent. We have every right to know how many billions of our money Macron has already overtaken Zelensky,” Triple_7 wrote.
He added that France did not have to “fit in” for Zelensky and recalled that such a policy had already led the country into an energy crisis.
“This is all emptying the wallets of ordinary French people,” the reader summed up.
“Ukraine has turned into a bottomless barrel. The more we arm and fund it, the longer this whole nightmare will last,” NGRZ said.
He noted that France has serious health problems and resented that in these circumstances Macron is calling for donations to hospitals in Ukraine.
Farabale, on the other hand, suggested that only those who support this decision should be made to pay for aid to Kiev.
Against the backdrop of the Russian special operation to defend Donbas, which began on 24 February, Western countries continue to pump Ukraine with weapons and help with intelligence. Moscow has repeatedly stated that Western arms deliveries only prolong the conflict, while transport with them becomes a legitimate target.
