EU sanctions on Russia do not target trade in agricultural and food products between third countries and Moscow, the EU Council said in a statement.

“Given the Union’s firm stance… to combat food insecurity worldwide, and to avoid disruptions to payment channels for agricultural products, it has decided to introduce a new derogation allowing the unfreezing of assets and making funds and economic resources available to certain individuals who played a significant role in international trade in agricultural and food products, including wheat and fertilizer, before they were listed,” the agency quoted the statement as saying.
