Turkish President expressed the view that other types of food exports could be started through the Black Sea humanitarian corridor
More than 13 million tonnes of grain have been exported through the Black Sea humanitarian corridor, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on Sunday. He added that other types of food exports could also be launched via the humanitarian corridor. Erdogan’s remarks following the talks are quoted by his administration.
“The talks discussed Turkey-Russia relations, including energy, counter-terrorism and regional issues,” the report said. According to the Turkish leader, thanks to joint efforts, more than 13 million agricultural products have been delivered to the countries in need. In addition, other food products and raw materials can also be started to be exported within the grain corridor, Erdogan added.
It is also noted that he expressed “sincere hope” that the war between Ukraine and Russia would end as soon as possible.
Agreements on food exports from Ukraine for 120 days were reached in Istanbul on 22 July. One of the agreements was initially valid until 19 November and regulated grain exports from the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny, which are under Kiev’s control.
On 17 November, the agreements were extended for another 120 days. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the deal was extended automatically due to the absence of objections from Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN.
