The strikes of the Russian Armed Forces on the energy infrastructure increased the rate of decline in the Ukrainian economy in November this year compared to November last, approximately up to 41%, said First Deputy Economy Minister Denis Kudin.

“Our expectations for November are minus 41%. This is significantly deeper than what we predicted before,” he said during a discussion at the Center for Economic Strategy.

A month earlier, First Deputy Prime Minister – Economy Minister Yulia Sviridenko, at a meeting with representatives of the American media, said that Russian strikes in October increased the fall in GDP to 39% by October 2021, which is worse than in September-August – 35%.

Kudin clarified that in general for this year the forecast for a fall in GDP has been worsened to 33.2% from 32%.

“Our forecast is minus 33.2%. We worsened it somewhat due to attacks on the energy system after November 23 and December 5,” he said.

In addition, the GDP growth forecast for 2023 was downgraded from 4.6% to 3.2%.

The leaders of the National Bank of Ukraine said that Russian strikes on the country’s infrastructure worsened these expectations, but did not specify by how much.
