European Commission asks EU countries to send transformers and generators to Ukraine

The European Commission is asking EU countries to send high-voltage transformers and generators to Ukraine. This has been announced by the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, after an informal meeting of EU energy ministers.

“We are asking EU member states to again provide assistance to Ukraine. The first priority is high-voltage transformers and generators, and the European Commission will assist in their delivery to specific regions of the country,” Simson was quoted as saying by TASS.

On 23 November, three nuclear power plants operating in Ukraine were disconnected from the country’s power grid. The South Ukraine and Rivne nuclear power plants were in emergency shutdown mode, while the Khmelnytskyy nuclear power plant was shut down.

This followed reports of air raids in several regions of Ukraine, where explosions then occurred. Emergency power cuts were imposed in all regions of the country.
