At a press conference following his October 8 meeting with Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar described the relationship between India and Russia as “very beneficial” for both countries and expressed his hope that “the relationship will remain strong and stable.”

The head of Indian diplomacy specifically mentioned the energy sector, while his country is “one of the largest consumers of oil and gas” in the world, with “revenues that are not very high” and while “oil markets are struggling.”

“Our primary responsibility is to ensure that Indian consumers have the best possible access to international markets on the most favorable terms. And in this regard, to be honest, we have seen that Russian-Indian relations are beneficial to us, and we will continue,” he concluded.
