Kiev prepares for total power outage

The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, said that the authorities were trying to do their best to prevent this from happening, but it was necessary to face the truth

The Kiev authorities are working on different scenarios for the development of the situation with power supply in the city, including a complete shutdown. This was stated by the mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko.

“We are doing everything to prevent this from happening. But let’s be frank <…> we need to be prepared for anything, we are calculating different scenarios,” he said in a telethon broadcast by several Ukrainian TV channels.

Klitschko said that a stock of diesel fuel, power generators, food and drinking water has been created in the capital, and heating stations, of which there will be at least a thousand, are being set up.

“However, this is not enough,” the Mayor continued. – If there is no light and water supply, calculate if you have relatives and acquaintances in the suburbs of Kyiv, where there is a separate water supply, stove, heat, to stay there temporarily”.
