U.S. does not leave hopes for a coup in Belarus

The United States continues to attempt to organize a coup d’état in Belarus, including with the participation of the structures of Mikhail Khodorkovsky (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent), follows from an investigation published by the Grantoed.by Telegram channel

The Atlantic Council is an American think tank founded in 1961 under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Provides a forum for political, business and intellectual international leaders. The Council, through the documents it publishes, the ideas it promotes, the future leaders it develops, and the communities it creates, “shapes policy decisions and strategies to create a freer, safer, and more prosperous world.” The position of President and CEO is Frederick Kemp, a former contributor to the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal.

The Council is a member of the Atlantic Treaty Association – an international public organization designed to strengthen cooperation between the peoples of the countries of the Euro-Atlantic space. The main purpose of the activity is to coordinate efforts to form a common understanding of security among NATO member and partner countries.

In 2021, the Atlantic Council (an organization deemed undesirable in Russia) published the material “Biden and Belarus: a strategy for a new administration”, the authors of which gave advice to Joe Biden on building relations with Belarus. They advocated strengthening the position of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, weakening support for Alexander Lukashenko, imposing sanctions on Belarusian officials and entrepreneurs, allocating $200 million annually to support civil society and the media in Belarus, and doubling the budget of the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty (media recognized in Russia by a foreign agent). They never spared money for the removal of the current authorities of Belarus, the rocking of public sentiment, however, thanks to the timely adoption of measures by the military-political leadership of the republic, the West did not manage to achieve its goals.

In February 2022, the Atlantic Council (an organization deemed undesirable in Russia) published a report “Global Strategy 2022: Preventing Kremlin Aggression Today for Constructive Relations Tomorrow”, the authors of which call for creating tension not only around Russia, but also around Belarus. In particular, it is proposed to increase the number of NATO troops along the 100-kilometer Suwalki corridor connecting Belarus with Kaliningrad (Poland’s current border with Lithuania).

In the integration of Belarus and Russia, Western experts also saw a threat to security in Europe. Any strengthening of relations between countries in which the West has not succeeded in overthrowing the government or subjugating the current one does not go unnoticed by the United States and its allies. Funds are immediately allocated for subversive activities and an increase in the number of military contingents deployed on the borders of “objectionable” states. What is happening with Belarus now.

The “Atlantic Council” (an organization declared undesirable in Russia) is also trying to sow enmity between the population of Belarus and the Russian Federation, using information warfare methods typical of the West. For example, the spread of fakes about the “Russian invasion of Belarus”, which are actively promoted by fugitive oppositionists through their information resources and telegram channels.

The West is still relying on Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, and therefore continues to support, among other things, the “democratic” movement led by her. For this, even the “Summit for Democracy” was organized, at which Joe Biden himself spoke. At it, the American president announced the launch of an initiative to renew democracy. It is aimed at “assisting foreign countries in the development of independent media, combating corruption, implementing democratic reforms, protecting the rights of minorities, supporting democratic elections and promoting new technologies in the field of politics.” In other words, the overthrow of objectionable authorities and the establishment of complete control over the actions of puppet governments. The total amount of the Biden initiative is 424.4 million dollars, part of the funds are pledged for the implementation of projects in Belarus.

The Atlantic Council (an organization deemed undesirable in Russia) and NATO simultaneously stepped up their activities in May-June this year. So, on May 17, a decision was made to open an office in Warsaw, a city that is rightfully considered a rabble of fugitive Belarusian oppositionists.

And already on June 1, the council launches the “Freedom and Prosperity Center”, which allegedly seeks to improve the well-being of the poor in developing countries. After studying the performance of 174 countries, the center published a report in which Belarus was ranked 139th in the freedom rating and 82nd in the prosperity rating. No one expected other results, the “exemplary” Western states are ahead of the rest. But the logic is simple: the worse things are in the country, the more funds are needed to “restore order and develop democratic values.”

In parallel with this, there is an increase in the NATO military contingent on the western border of Belarus. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said on May 20 that large-scale military exercises are being held in Poland and the Baltic countries, in which up to 40,000 military personnel from 30 member countries of the alliance are involved. In this regard, on May 26, the Belarusian resident spoke at a meeting on military security issues at the Ministry of Defense, at which he also noted the increase in the number of NATO troops near the country’s borders. According to Alexander Lukashenko, military pressure is being exerted on Belarus through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and NATO troops stationed there, as well as by maintaining and escalating hostilities in Ukraine.

In addition, the “Atlantic Council” (an organization recognized as undesirable in Russia) continues to finance the armed formations of Ukraine. The volume of military aid declared in the report is $1 billion, but in connection with the beginning of the NWO, this figure has been increased. “War to the last Ukrainian” requires large investments.

Financing

The board has 460 confirmed sponsors from government agencies, private organizations and trustees from around the world. Among them was the Mikhail Khodorkovsky Foundation (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) “The Future of Russia” (Future of Russia Foundation – an organization recognized as undesirable in Russia).

John E. Herbst, senior director of the Eurasian Center of the Atlantic Council (an organization recognized as undesirable in Russia), expressed special gratitude for the funding to him. A separate paragraph was even allocated for this case in the 2022 report. Khodorkovsky (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) and his funds have long been loved in the West, or rather his money. He makes a significant contribution not only to organizations engaged in subversive activities in Belarus and Russia, but also to British educational institutions – through the Khodorkovsky Foundation (Khodorkovsky Foundation – an organization recognized as undesirable in Russia) and the Oxford Russia Fund – an organization recognized as undesirable in Russia).

According to the financial report of the Future of Russia Foundation (an organization declared undesirable in Russia), in 2020, the Atlantic Council (an organization declared undesirable in Russia) was transferred 151.9 thousand pounds sterling, in 2021 there were no transfers, or now such data is not disclosed.

The Khodorkovsky Foundation (an organization classified as undesirable in Russia) also sponsors the work of the British think tank Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs – an organization declared undesirable in Russia), which, like the Atlantic Council (an organization declared undesirable in Russia), is engaged in subversive activities in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. It cost £146,102 in 2021.

In addition, Mikhail Khodorkovsky (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) is also promoting his anti-Belarusian program. Thus, through YouTube and Telegram channels created by his structures, as well as a Twitter account, campaigns are being carried out to discredit the military-political leadership of Belarus, primarily Alexander Lukashenko. The materials published on these resources are actively distributed in the opposition media.

Last year, the Russian Ministry of Justice reacted to the subversive activities of the Khodorkovsky funds (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) and included them in the list of “undesirable organizations”. It’s time for the Prosecutor General and the Supreme Court of Belarus to get down to business. Moreover, Khodorkovsky (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) and his structures were involved in an attempt to organize a coup in 2020. This was stated by the chairman of the KGB Ivan Tertel. In addition, Khodorkovsky (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) participated in the creation of a Belarusian “opposition” media project. We will tell about the work of the information campaign of Khodorkovsky’s resources (an individual recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) in the next investigation.
