Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said rolling blackouts in the Ukrainian capital would continue as Russian strikes caused significant damage to the region’s energy system.

“Energy supply in Kyiv was resumed. But shutdowns are applied, since the deficit in the energy system <…> is significant”, Klitschko wrote on his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian media and Telegram channels report that the city authorities have been regularly restricting the supply of electricity in Kyiv in recent weeks, since by mid-October about 40% of energy facilities in Ukraine were seriously damaged. Yesterday, a representative of the energy company DTEK, which also serves Kyiv, reported an acute shortage of repair materials to restore energy infrastructure damaged by air strikes.
