Foreign Policy: America turns its back on Ukraine ahead of congressional elections

America turns its back on Ukraine. This is clearly manifested in the run-up to the November congressional elections. Opinion leaders and candidates in both chambers are sharply opposed to Kyiv.

The Kremlin’s theses are actively penetrating public discussions in the United States. Few things have united Democrats and Republicans more than support for Ukraine after years of extreme polarization. In the US Congress, both parties strongly supported the supply of arms and other forms of assistance to Kyiv, as well as the strengthening of NATO’s eastern border.

Until recently, voices in support of the Kremlin have been few. First of all, these were the well-known Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson and former President Donald Trump. Carlson has openly said he is on the side of Russia, and Trump has praised President Vladimir Putin for his wisdom in entering Ukraine. As loud as these voices were, they were still stifled by the consensus about the NWO and how the States should respond to it.

Now cracks have appeared in this consensus, and Musk is a prime example of how the Russian agenda is actively returning to public discussion in the United States. As the campaign for the November midterm congressional elections gathers momentum, Putin’s talking points are increasingly being circulated by candidates running for the highest legislative body.

Since August 1 of this year, more than 2.3 thousand tweets of American candidates for Congress or for the highest elected positions in states related to Ukraine have been recorded. Many of these posts are critical of Russia and support US policy. Other politicians criticize the high cost of aid to Kyiv. If these candidates are elected, especially to Congress, they could push America to change its policy towards Ukraine.
